The European University Sports Association (EUSA) and Rugby Europe, the governing body of rugby in Europe, have signed a new partnership to increase the development of rugby among university students throughout the continent.
Following an initial agreement, signed in 2017, the two entities have decided to further strengthen their partnership and general cooperation.
Both entities will continue to work together in activities and projects promoting university sport - specifically 7s Rugby - while promoting and contributing to the development of the game among students across Europe.
The agreement includes ensuring quality refereeing and equipment at EUSA competitions while also exchanging relevant information at EUSA events, encouraging EUSA’s members and participants to establish cooperation and networks at national level. The partnership will be already implemented at the next European University Games (EUG) planned for Belgrade (Serbia) in 2021.

To promote and play rugby at University is a key element for players development and retention in our sport throughout Europe. This agreement will also offer new opportunities to our referees, adding to our current officials’ pathway, to gain experience at more international events,” said Mr Octavian Morariu, President of Rugby Europe.
