Sweden at the center of Women's and Men's Trophy action this weekend!

Sweden and Germany will meet to decide who will win the Women’s Rugby Europe Trophy title on Saturday.

In the three-team event, Sweden won 18-7 in Finland back in October and then Germany defeated the Finnish side 68-0 at home in February.

Those results have left Germany top on five points and Sweden second on four points with a ‘winner takes all’ scenario set to play out this weekend.

They are meeting at the Trelleborg Rugby Arena at 11am local time (9am UTC) and both teams will be giving it everything.

With Sweden 21st and Germany 22nd in the world rankings it should be a fascinating contest.

Meanwhile, Sweden have an opportunity to put a bit of pressure on men’s Rugby Europe Trophy top two Czechia and Poland at the same venue later in the day.

Going into Saturday’s home match with Denmark, Sweden sit third in the six-team standings with a game in hand over the two teams above them.

However, with Czechia on 18 points and Poland on 16, Sweden, on 10 points from two wins and a loss so far, know that a bonus point win is needed if they are to get up to 15 points and close the gap.

Denmark are fifth having won one and lost two so far and the match is taking place at the Trelleborg Rugby Arena at 2pm local time (12pm UTC).

Sweden’s last game in the completion came way back in November when they lost 48-24 away to unbeaten Czechia while Denmark’s last outing saw them beat Lithuania 38-34 at home that same month.

After this fixture, the competition will be concluded with final matches on April 11, 12 and 18.

As well as the two Trophy matches in Sweden, there are three men’s Rugby Europe Conference games on Saturday.

In the pool stage, Moldova are playing Türkiye, Hungary are taking on Austria and Malta are away to Andorra.
