Rugby Europe partners with rugby’s mental health charity LooseHeadz

Rugby Europe are delighted to be joining forces with rugby’ mental health charity, LooseHeadz, to help raise awareness and provide support for those suffering from mental health issues.

LooseHeadz have already played a significant role in increasing awareness of such an important issue, where they have already 1,000 rugby clubs in 20 different countries to date.

Rugby Europe will work in partnership with LooseHeadz to help promote their work throughout our 47 active unions, stay in keeping with LooseHeadz core values; to Prevent, Promote, Educate & Signpost around mental health, whilst finding new and innovative ways to advance the dialogue around mental health.

António Cruz Ferreira, Chair of the Player Welfare Committee at Rugby Europe said, “Rugby is a physically demanding sport, but it’s also mentally tough too, with this partnership with LooseHeadz we want to be able to grow awareness that there is support for anyone who is involved in rugby at any level, and they are not alone.”

“We are really looking forward to supporting the cause and working with our athletes at all levels within Rugby Europe and highlight some of the key work being done by the Player Welfare Committee, as we know that player welfare on and off the pitch is the number one priority in our sport.”

On the announcement co-founder Rob Shotton said, “We are super proud of this new partnership between LooseHeadz and Rugby Europe. From our very first conversations, it was clear they shared our vision and passion, eager to become part of the LooseHeadz family. This partnership perfectly complements our worldwide mission to place a mental health lead at every rugby club in the world. We now have the opportunity to build relationships with the Unions and better support the rugby community throughout Europe.”
