Rugby Europe, has confirmed the schedule of the semi-finals of the Men’s Rugby Europe Championship 2023 (REC).
After an intense pool phase played last throughout the last three weekends, the eight teams involved in the new format of the competition will now battle it out to contest the Grand Final and Ranking Finals.
Georgia and Portugal have both qualified with the maximum amount of points available to top the group, with Spain and Romania making it through as they claimed the other runner up places.
In two weeks time we will be treated to two exciting regional clashes: Georgia will take on Romania on Sunday 5 March at 16.00 (UTC+4) for the traditional Antim Cup, which is contested between these two sides; while Portugal will host the Iberian derby against their neighbours, Spain, on Saturday 4 March at 17.00 (UTC).
Regardless of the results, the four teams will travel to the Estadio Nuevo Vivero in Badajoz (Spain) on March 19th where the REC2023 Champions will be crowned during the “Grand final” Sunday.
Meanwhile, the bottom four teams will contest another set of semi-finals: Netherlands will face Belgium on Saturday 4 March at 1.15pm (UTC+1) in a re-run of the thrilling playoff held in 2021, while the newly promoted Poland and Germany will play on Sunday 5 March at 8.00pm (UTC+1).
The ranking positions from 5th to 8th will be hosted in Amsterdam at the National Center of Rugby, the home of Rugby Netherlands on March 19 for a great celebration of rugby.
