The fifth edition of the European Universities Games will take place from July 14-27, 2021 in Belgrade, Serbia.
Initially set to take place in July 2020, Europe's largest gathering of student-athletes for the highly anticipated event was postponed amid the global COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants, volunteers, staff, visitors and local community.
Despite the postponement, EUSA and the local organising committee have remained fully committed to the organisation of what is still expected to be the largest edition of European Universities Games, and look forward to welcoming all participants, guests and spectators to Belgrade in 2021.
Rugby 7s will be part of the games this year, and EUSA are inviting teams to register for the event and Rugby Europe encourage your universities to get involved, their 7s event will be from the 22-26 July.
The European Universities Games in Belgrade is set to be the highlight of the 2021 European university sports calendar, in what will be the second-largest multisport event ever organised in Serbia after the 2009 Summer Universiade. Participants from over 400 universities across Europe are expected to compete in a variety of sports over the 14 days in Serbia's capital city.
Alongside the sport competitions, the Games will focus on educational and social aspects of university sport in Europe, featuring conferences and workshops in the topics Anti-Doping, Inclusion, Dual Career, as well as a Rectors' Conference. The legacy of the Games will be visibly clear as support from many institutions from across Europe and the local community will aid the development of university sports and student facilities in Belgrade.
University teams who were already approved by EUSA for EUG2020 and signalled their intent to participate in the event in 2021 have been contacted, with their participation confirmed for 2021.
Registrations for all remaining places available for the Games in Belgrade reopened on November 1, 2020.
