Judgement weekend as the Super Cup reaches Semi-Final stages

Rugby Europe Super Cup action will return with a bang for 2026 over the next two days with the semi-finals take place.

Between October and December six teams battled it out in a round robin format to see who would make it through to the last four in the 2025/26 playing of the event.

In the end, Spanish side Castilla y Leon Iberians topped the standings with an impressive five wins from five with Portugal’s Lusitanos second with four wins, Belgium’s Brussels Devils third with two wins and Delta from the Netherlands fourth with two wins.

Delta finished on nine points which was the same as Czechia’s Bohemia Warriors, but the latter just missed out on making progress as did winless bottom side Romanian Wolves.

Finals weekend - with a bronze final leading into a cup final - will be taking place at the National Rugby Center in Amsterdam next Saturday, January 24, but for now the semi-finals are the big focus for the four remaining sides.

The Estadio Nueva Balastera in Palencia will be the venue for semi-final number one when first ranked Iberians will host fourth ranked Delta on Friday evening at 7pm local time (6pm UTC).

When these two sides met in the round robin phase in October in Amsterdam, Iberians dominated on the road to win 50-17.

The visitors that day outscored their hosts eight tries to three and, after being 26-5 up at half-time, never looked back.

Delta will have taken some heart from the fact that they managed to breach the Iberians defence three times and will look to build on that in this rematch, but the strength of the Spanish outfit is that once they gain momentum they are hard to stop.

Delta will be desperate to cause an upset here to reach a cup final in front of their own supporters next weekend, but Iberians start as favourites, especially at home, and will be looking to kick on from where they left off pre-Christmas.

The second semi-final will be taking place on Saturday when second ranked Lusitanos host third ranked Brussels Devils at the CAR Jamor stadium in Lisbon at 3pm local time (3pm UTC).

When they met in the first phase of the competition in Belgium in October, Lusitanos came out of the blocks flying and were 31-3 up at half-time before winning 41-17.

Key for the Devils this time around will be a better start, but Lusitanos will start as favourites and will be keen to press home their home advantage here.

You will be able to watch the games on various channels and platforms, as well as on Rugby Europe TV and you can find them all HERE

Regardless of the results, all four teams will again meet in Amsterdam next weekend to contest the Bronze and Final.
