The fixtures have been revealed for the Men’s Rugby Europe Trophy, which is the second Tier of competition underneath the Men’s Rugby Europe Championship at XV level.
It promises to be an exciting year of matches with it being the second of a two-year cycle with all to play for from the 15 games in the division. The points are calculated accumulatively after the two years to see who gets the promoted.
Poland currently sits in top spot with 22 points after last season’s action, but only narrowly, after a thrilling game in Trelleborg where they defeated their closest rivals Sweden.
The men in yellow sit three points behind Poland on 19 points, winning four of their five games in the 24/25 season.
The aspiration of Championship level rugby is still very much alive for Czechia who were only beaten by the top two teams last season and inflicted some heavy defeats to those below them and recorded the most bonus points (4) in the division. They sit on 16 points starting the new season.
Croatia and Lithuania are the other mainstays in the division, and will this year be joined by Denmark after they finished the season with a play-off win against Moldova at the expense of Luxembourg who were relegated last season.
The derby fixture between Sweden and Denmark will also spark a long-standing rivalry, with the two initially meeting in 1949 - marking the two teams first ever international match - which was won 6-0 by Sweden on that occasion!
