As a part of its strategic plan, Rugby Europe, the European governing body gathering 48 national federations (including the six major nations) has proceeded to the recruitment of its Chief Executive Officer.

After a selection process conducted by the headhunter company SRI, Rugby Europe is pleased to announce the appointment of Florent Marty, who will officially start on January 8, 2019. He will be in charge for managing the staff, the implementation of the 2017/2021 strategic plan as well as all international developments.

Florent spent 11 years with the National Basketball Association (NBA) in Europe and the Middle East where he played a key role in the NBA growth in the region as Senior Director of Marketing Partnerships, and 3 years at Lagardère Sports as Vice-President Marketing & Development. His missions included the acquisition and implementation of new sports rights, developing and implementing events and working on brand activation with sponsors. Lastly, he was Managing Director of Solive, a live social media publishing software dedicated to the sports industry, position that he will leave to join Rugby Europe.

Florent Marty, commented on his appointment: "I am absolutely delighted to be appointed as the Chief Executive of Rugby Europe, an organization at the center of rugby development in Europe where half of the rugby players in the world are coming from. I am looking forward to working with Rugby Europe members and staff on delivering participation and economic growth."

Florent has always been a rugby fan. Native from South West of France, he did his studies in Toulouse, and worked with numerous Rugby governing bodies in previous missions. 

Rugby Europe is the governing body responsible for the promotion, development, administration and management of international competitions for the 48-member unions across Europe. The association organizes over 80 international games and 20 rugby tournaments each year, among which Men’s fifteen-a-side European Championships, U20 and U18 European Championships and the 7s’ Grand Prix Series (Men and Women), qualifying for World Cups and Olympic games.
