Societe Generale extend partnership with Rugby Europe

Societe Generale will be the Official Partner of the Rugby Europe Sevens Championships

In line with its commercial development, Rugby Europe, the European governing body of rugby,  announces the extension of the partnership with Societe Generale for a further two seasons until September 2022.

A long-standing partner of the European association since 2003, the banking group continues its commitment to the development and promotion of rugby internationally in a context where the world of sport needs support more than ever.

Societe Generale will be the Official Partner of the Rugby Europe Sevens Championships which gather the twelve best European nations in June and July each season. The development of Sevens rugby is a major focus for Societe Generale. In 2001, the Group was the first partner of this sport, which became an Olympic discipline in 2016. The various stages of the Men's and Women's circuits in Russia and Georgia will be an opportunity for the Bank to highlight its activities and involve its local branches.

Octavian Morariu, President of Rugby Europe: “We are happy to continue the adventure with Societe Generale, which has been our long-standing partner for nearly 20 years. The loyalty of this international group shows the importance of European Rugby in its sponsorship commitments. We are delighted to be able to write a new page to promote the performance of our nations in Sevens rugby. "

Florent Marty, Rugby Europe CEO: “The renewal of the partnership with Societe Generale is a proof of confidence in Rugby Europe, and in the marketing strategy that we are carrying out for the coming period. Through the materials implemented and the strengthening of digital content, Societe Generale will be able to tell great stories and continue to show its love for European rugby.”

Pierre Caillaud, Societe Generale Head of Sponsorship explains: “As a faithful partner of rugby for over than 30 years, we are particularly keen to be by its side in times of crisis, such as the one we are currently experiencing. The extension of our partnership with Rugby Europe is part of this process and we are happy to continue our efforts to develop the practice of rugby, especially rugby sevens, throughout Europe."
