DECISION OF RUGBY EUROPE APPEAL COMMITTEE - MISCONDUCT ON BELGIUM / SPAIN

Rugby Europe Appeal Committee met on June 28th2018 following the decision of the Spanish players to appeal the sanctions pronounced by Rugby Europe Judicial Committee on April 17th2018.

RUGBY EUROPE Appeal Committee consisted of: 

  • Mr. Jonathan Dance (Chairman), England;
  • Mr. Jean-Claude Lunel, France;
  • Mr. Norbert Li-Marchetti, Switzerland.

After hearing the arguments of the players, the Appeal Committee upheld the Judgment of the Judicial Commission held of 17thApril in relation to the culpability of the players concerned but following review reduced the sanctions of Messrs G. Rouet and S Rouet 

 

A summary of the Sanctions imposed  is

  •  Guillaume ROUET (n°9 - initial sanction of 36 weeks): reduced to 32 weeks after appeal.

Start of the sanction: April 17th2018

End of the sanction: November 27th2018

 

  • Sébastien ROUET (n°20 - initial sanction of 43 weeks): reduced to 32 weeks after appeal.

Start of the sanction: April 17th2018

End of the sanction: November 27th2018

 

  • Pierre BARTHERE (n°6 - initial sanction of 14 weeks): unchanged after appeal.

Start of the sanction: April 17th2018

End of the sanction: July 24th 2018

 

  • Lucas GUILLAUME (n°7- initial sanction of 14 weeks): unchanged after appeal.

Start of the sanction: April 17th2018

End of the sanction: July 24th 2018

 

  • Mathieu BELIE (n°10- initial sanction of 14 weeks): unchanged after appeal.

Start of the sanction: April 17th2018

End of the sanction: July 24th 2018

All the players may train for next season and coach whilst suspended but not play in any form of rugby match until the end of their sanction
