As a part of its strategic development, Rugby Europe, the European governing body gathering 48 national federations (including the six major nations) has proceeded to the recruitment of its Head of Digital.

After a selection process conducted by the headhunter company Compétences Phenix, Rugby Europe is pleased to announce the appointment of Ben Fox, who takes up his position this week. He will be in charge of developing the digital strategy of Rugby Europe, reviewing and modernizing the digital ecosystem of the association, while increasing and animating the digital fanbase.

Ben Fox graduated from the University of Edinburgh, before spending over a decade with Cricket Scotland as national team Media and Communications Manager. He was in charge of the creation, development and implementation of their digital strategy, as well as leading on the organizational rebrand and re-design of the company’s website.

He brings with him over 11 years of knowledge in content and digital strategy, adding to his experience of working with the International Cricket Council throughout the ICC 2016 T20 World Cup in India.

Following that, he spent a year and a half with Scottish Rugby where he was the Match-Day Digital Lead for Scotland’s Six Nations matches and the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

He was appointed Tournament Media Manager for Scottish Rugby’s ground-breaking Super6 tournament, which launched in 2019, which was created to bridge the gap between the domestic and professional game in Scotland. He also held the position of Media Manager for Scotland’s Rugby Development team during his time at the Union.

Florent Marty, CEO of Rugby Europe: "The appointment of Ben Fox is an essential step in Rugby Europe development. Digital platforms have become a key-element in increasing marketing and commercial resources. We must to be able to reach and engage the 100 million rugby fans on the continent. Ben's expertise in this area and his experience in two sports federations are essential assets for Rugby Europe."

Ben Fox added: “I’m delighted to have this great opportunity to help push Rugby Europe to the next level of their digital journey. I was immediately impressed with their plans and desire to expand the visibility of the sport and help them connect with their fans in a new era for the organization.
