Veronika Muehlhofer appointed as Rugby Europe representative at World Rugby Council
As part of the reform of the rules on representation in World Rugby Council, each country and Member Association has the opportunity since 2018 to add an additional representative to the Council, subject to that person being female. This change is also aimed at furthering gender equality on elected representatives and a better representation of women within the global body.
Rugby Europe is delighted to announce the nomination of Veronika Muehlhofer (Switzerland) as a representative of the European Association alongside President Octavian Morariu.
This decision follows the non-re-election of Madeleine Lahti at the presidency of the Swedish Rugby Union and the withdrawal of her mandates in the European body.
The nomination of Mme Muehlhofer has been validated by Rugby Europe Board Members on an interim basis, pending the next General Meeting to be held this December.
Veronika is strongly committed since many years in the development of Swiss rugby and women rugby. Through her experience of major international events (Olympic Games), she is a person of great value for Rugby Europe, whether in the Age-Grade Competitions and Development Committee, or in this new function alongside the President.
She will attend her first Council meeting today in Dublin
